SUMMARY:Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Forum
DESCRIPTION:An Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Could Be Perfect For Your
Home\n\nInterested in learning more about ADUs? You are invited to attend
the Council on Aging's ADU Forum\, in person at the library or over Zoom on
September 30. To receive the zoom link\, please register on the library's
calendar or scan the QR code below. Free and open to all ages!\n\n\n\nAt
 the forum\, state ADU leaders\, architects\, Weston’s town planner\,
banking experts\, builders\, and real estate brokers will help explain the
benefits and costs of creating an ADU for yourself. Attend in person or
online by zoom. The forum will be recorded and available on the Weston
COA’s web page as well as on the Weston Affordable Housing Trust
website.\n\nWhy build an ADU?\n\nGrandparents could use one to live close
to the grandkids. Residents wanting living space for children\, care
givers\, or for downsizing with room in the big house for family or for
rental income or to simply increase your real estate value could use one. A
recent state law gives you the right to build one with minimal restrictions
and even financial support if needed. Find out how to explore the
possibility for yourself at this forum and online.\n\nWhat is an
ADU?\n\nThey are small living units within or next to your existing home as
large as 900 square feet in living space\, plus whatever garage\, basement
and storage space you want to build with it. One could be created inside a
large home (less than 50% of a home’s existing space)\, attached to your
home\, above a detached garage\, or as a stand standalone building
elsewhere on your property. It would include separate entrances\, kitchen
and bathrooms and sleeping spaces so occupants could live
 independently.\n\nAdditional information is online
 at:\n\nhttps://www.mass.gov/info-details/accessory-dwelling-units\n\nThe
Weston guidelines for ADU’s is at:

 governing ADU’s is
