The November 12th meeting of the Local and Global Discussion Group will be devoted to local issues in anticipation of Town Meeting in December.
At Town Meeting on December 3rd a proposed bylaw will be discussed. It is an effort to loosen restrictions on “Accessory Dwelling Units” (ADUs). Why was the “Affordable Homes Act” enacted by the State Legislature? What is Weston’s response to the requirements? What does (or doesn’t) the ADU law have to do with the 40B and MBTA 3A? What is Weston doing to provide more options for senior housing the area? Imaikalani Aiu, the Weston Town Planner, and representatives of the housing committee will be available to answer questions.
Second, we will hear from the Town Governance Study Committee. This committee has been studying the organization and decision-making roles of the numerous committees and departments in Weston.
Third, Laurie Bent, a member of the Weston Select Board and the Unified Planning Committee, will cover the current status of the Unified Plan: Why does Weston need one and what will it cover?
Finally, time permitting, we will also have an update on the efforts to “Connect Weston” with a new community calendar and community newspaper.
The meeting is open to all who wish to discuss the issues in civil discourse with a wide variety of participants. It will be chaired by Joel Angiolillo and will be held from 1:00 to 2:30 on Tuesday, November 12th at the Weston Public Library’s Community Room. If you cannot attend in person, please contact Susan Wagner susanwgnr@gmail.com for the Zoom link.
