DESCRIPTION:Haiku is a short poem that connects us deeply with the natural
 world. It is also a poem of heightened awareness\; of direct\, personal
 experience. We will learn about haiku\, its history\, form and structure\,
 read many haiku\, and try our hand at writing haiku using a fun\, easy
 prompt. All are invited to this fun\, supportive workshop\, no experience
 necessary\, Each participant will receive a free copy of the instructor’s
 book\, The Length of One Breath: Haiku Now.\n\nInstructor Jeannie Martin\,
 Ed.D.\, is a member of the Boston Haiku Society. Martin has brought haiku
 to marginalized populations and programs in homeless shelters\, low-income
 elder housing\, nursing homes\, memory loss units\, and prisons. She is the
 author of nine haiku chapbooks and two books of haiku reflections: Clear
 Water: a haiku invitation into our luminous\, sacred world (2013) and a
 touch of light (2019).
