Two summers ago, four women photographers, including Weston photographer Nicole Mordecai, turned their camera lenses on beavers west of Boston. They found they enjoyed photographing these adorable, aquatic animals more than they could have imagined. The more they spent time with beavers in their natural habitat, the more they learned about the vital role these incredible engineers play in creating wetlands, slowing floods, preventing wildfires and supporting biodiversity. Over the last two years, the women have amassed an extensive collection of photographs (see one of Nicole’s beaver photos in Michael Pappone’s column in the Weston Observer), the best of which will be on display at Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary’s gallery Nov. 8-Dec. 20, 2026. The opening reception is at 2pm on November 8th.
The four women behind Beaver Life: Photography Show are Nicole Mordecai, Barbara Peskin, Phyllis Neufeld and Jean Fain. All four are members of the Sudbury Valley Nature Photographers photo club.
