On Tuesday April 1st, from 1:15 to 2:30 pm, the Local Global Discussion Group will once again turn its collective attention from international topics to local ones. We call it our “What’s the Local Buzz” session. The meeting will be held in person at the Weston Public Library as well as over Zoom.
The local issues to be covered include:
1) The Town Governance Study Committee was formed in 2023 with the charter to advise the Town “on matters related to the Town’s governance structure and practices.” What are their recommendations? What recommended changes will need to be voted on? How did they come to these conclusions?
2) The Historical Commission is bringing two requests to Town Meeting: Restoring the old clock at First Parish Church and Restoring the Central Cemetery Gate.
3) The past, present and future of the Old Mass Central Railroad Depot at Church Street.
The first two will come before Town Meeting for votes. Representatives from the Weston Historical Commission and the Town Governance Study Committee will lead the discussion. Joel Angiolillo will host the session.
The event is open to all who are interested in learning about and discussing current issues and in civil discourse around the table. For further information on this meeting in particular or the group in general, contact Susan Wagner (508-733-8810; susanwgnr@gmail.com). Participants are invited to stay until 4 pm for informal socializing and discussions.
