Whether you’ve attended Town Meeting – or not – I’d like to hear from you!
Open Town Meeting is part of our local government in Weston, an in-person gathering of registered voters to serve as the Town’s legislative body. Decisions at Town Meeting impact many aspects of our lives including our taxes, schools, and available services. Participation is voluntary, and many voters choose not to participate. But for others, who wish to participate, there are obstacles which make participation difficult or undesirable.
Ten years ago, Weston residents participated in a Town Meeting Study which resulted in a number of changes in the way our Town Meetings are conducted, including presentation and speaker limits, use of consent agenda, and use of electronic voting devices. Now ten years later, I’d like to hear directly from Weston voters about their current level of satisfaction with Town Meeting, and how we might be able to make it even better, more inclusive, effective, and responsive to the needs of our community.
Most particularly, I’d like to better understand your experience of Town Meeting, your interest in participating, your barriers to participating, and your opinion on potential improvements.
