Nightingale wraps up the season with the premiere of a new work for chorus and cello by Juhi Bansal, commissioned by the Barlow Endowment Fund. Using texts by poet and aphasia and stroke-survivor Farzana Marie, this piece grapples with what it means to survive, the challenges of sudden disability and loss of identity, and the ways we transform ourselves to continue forwards through life-altering challenges. Rounding out the program are a double-choir world premiere of I Believe in the Sun by Andrew List, as well as works by Melissa Dunphy, Katerina Gimon, and Joan Szymko on themes of resilience, renewal, and transformation.
