This Saturday, February 28, local high school students and coaches from Nordic teams at Brookline, Acton-Boxboro, and Nashoba High Schools will be skiing to make wishes come true in the Nordic Ski-A-Thon.
Through the Nordic Ski-A-Thon, participants will be accepting donations to benefit Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island as well as the ski programs at the respective schools. Participants will ski as many kilometers as they are able to during the event. Supporters can made a pledge per kilometer or a one-time donation.
-
Fifty percent (50%) of all funds raised will be donated to Make-A-Wish, helping grant wishes for local children with critical illnesses, and fifty percent (50%) will support the athlete’s Nordic team, helping offset the costs of running a strong and supportive high school Nordic program.

Donations can be made online via the event’s fundraising page.

The event is sponsored by Brookline Hearing Services of Brookline, MA.
THE INSPIRATION: The Nordic Ski-A-Thon was organized by Simon Rakov, Brookline High School Nordic Ski Coach and father of wish recipient Maddy. Maddy, a student at Brookline High School, was treated for lymphoma. Maddy’s wish to go to Los Angeles to tour NASA’s Jet Propulsion lab, granted last year, was so impactful that she is now a Wish Ambassador, representing and supporting the Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island mission in various capacities.
