Weston Resident and Environmental Professor to Speak on Improving Water Quality
Weston’s own Steven Chapra, Tufts University Professor Emeritus of Civil and Environmental Engineering, will speak on the history, current state, and future of our planet’s water quality and tell us what we can do to improve the situation.
When: Thursday, April 17, 2025, Weston Garden Club meeting. The meeting begins at 9:45 AM with the program beginning at 10:00 AM.

About the speaker:
Steve Chapra is Professor Emeritus and Louis Berger Chair in Environmental Engineering at Tufts. He received his PhD in Environmental Engineering from the University of Michigan and has published over 200 technical publicationsincluding 11 textbooks. Steve’s research focuses on understanding and protecting the water-quality of rivers, lakes, estuaries, and oceans. Over his 50-year career, he has travelled extensively studying many of the world’s great waterways. He has special interest in how engineering, science, and computer modeling can be employed to reduce water-quality problems in a sustainable and cost-effective fashion.
