Indonesia may well be the world’s largest tiny nation. Despite having the world’s fourth largest population and its largest number of Muslim inhabitants, Indonesia maintains a very low profile internationally — aside from being a benevolent big brother in ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations).
With more than 17,000 islands, Indonesia stretches some 3,000 miles in a graceful archipelago from the South Pacific to the Indian Ocean
Come learn more about this fascinating country next Tuesday, Feb. 4 from 1:15 to about 2:30 pm in the Community Room of the Weston Public Library. There will be a short presentation on Indonesia’s history and government, followed by a video prepared by the Foreign Policy Association. We will then take a look at some of Indonesia’s unique culture: the gamelan (brass percussion orchestra), shadow puppetry, and batik-making. The remainder of the session will be devoted to free discussion.
Susan Wagner will be the presenter
